“We had a great experience working with Arlene Dean and Debbie Hollonbeck on our home addition. We were impressed with not only the quality of the work, but that it was done under–budget and several weeks ahead of schedule. Debbie also made sure we remained satisfied with the work by following up with us long after the work was completed.”

Meet The Team

Arlene Dean
Before settling in Decatur, Georgia, Builder–Owner Arlene Dean relocated every two years (at least) with her family. Over time, she acquired definitive architectural and design preferences, and began moving into houses that required extensive remodeling. While giving life to her ideas, she observed her contractors as well as personally accomplished all kinds of do–it–yourself projects. As a result, Arlene recognized that she had a talent to match her passion for residential construction. As proof, when her family sold the homes she renovated, they enjoyed substantial profits.
Determining that her move to Metro Atlanta would be her last, Arlene launched Arlene Dean in 2001. From the start, she wowed the marketplace with custom homes that reflected her impeccable sense of what homebuyers wanted but weren’t able to acquire elsewhere. In fact, she has consistently made every effort to honor buyers’ preferences and to offer feasible solutions to make their dreams come to life.
A dedicated professional, Arlene is a member of the Greater Atlanta Home Builders Association and the National Home Builders Association. She further supports the City of Decatur’s Martin Luther King Project by supplying building materials.

Debbie Hollonbeck
Debbie Hollonbeck, Project Manager, relocated to Atlanta in 1996 with her husband, a wheelchair racer who participated in the Olympic Games. When the couple undertook a massive demolition and rebuild project for their own Decatur residence, Debbie contracted Arlene to take over the major work and relied upon her building expertise to ensure a solid plan. As the client and builder worked side–by–side, they readily appreciated one another’s complementary skills and their shared attention to detail. Their combined efforts resulted in success. Debbie’s home, which facilitates sustainable living as well as wheelchair accessibility, was featured on the TV show “Renovation Nation” on the Planet Green channel. Additionally, Arlene Dean gained a project manager!
Debbie, who is a trained artist and former art teacher for Woodward Academy in College Park, presents a skilled eye for interior design as well as a tremendous appreciation for fine architecture. Arlene Dean and clients especially benefit from her aesthetic insights. Whether selecting high–quality fixtures, Energy Star appliances, superior materials, color, or finishes, homebuyers consistently express their gratitude for all the time and effort Debbie provides to make certain the final look is everything and more the owner hoped to achieve.

Eric Rawlings
Working in close collaboration with Arlene, licensed Architect Eric Rawlings shares her appreciation for historic architecture and the character of established Decatur neighborhoods. The two carefully consider the topography of a lot, sun exposure, views, and adjacent houses to determine the ideal direction and layout of each construction project. A versatile designer, Eric also takes great pains to assist clients in expressing their personal style. His expertise is broad — from historic preservation to Modernism — and includes sustainable living.
The advantages of having an in–house architect on board are multifold. For instance, if a committed homebuyer desires design changes after construction has commenced, Eric can easily accommodate such requests. He further provides 3–D computer renderings that leave little to the imagination and effectively enable clients to envision the plans. As a State–qualified architect, Eric also delivers the assurance that the home is designed to meet the highest standards and to fit the client like a glove.
Eric earned his architecture degree from the University of Kentucky and also studied under Leonardo Ricci in Venice, Italy. He contributed to numerous jobs with other firms before launching Rawlings Design, Inc in 2000, offering architectural services for residential and commercial projects. His varied portfolio encompasses an array of categories — Residential, Food Service, Retail, Medical, Parks & Recreation, Museum, Education and Religious.
A licensed architected by the State of Georgia since 2001, Eric is a member of the American Institute of Architects (AIA) as well as the US Green Building Council. He is a LEED Accredited Professional.
